Yet Another Day Of Sun & Fun

Today I took the children and Joanne to Brokerwoods Country Park which is near Westbury. Our aim has not only being to have a fun day with the children but to test how wheelchair friendly these places are, and how we managed to keep everyone happy.

The park is beautiful and does not feel man-made, everything is kept very natural, there is a charge to get in but we do feel that is probably used on the upkeep of the place, there is also a little train which is a pound for the return journey which takes you around the lake and our children loved, although I had nowhere to leave Paige’s chair so she and I did not get on it which was a pity. The pathways are wide and well kept and the main paths are fine with a wheelchair but the paths deep into the wood would not be any good, there are loads of picnic spaces to stop and eat, also a good cafe and shop.

The childrens playgrounds are exciting, rustic and every childs dream, ropes to swing on things to climb, things to jump off, there are two and both very good, they also catered for the smaller child which was nice but nothing for the disabled child, although we got Paige on the seesaw which she loved.

Generally speaking we had a very good day, which was better than some for the disabled, also they had toilets for disabled but you had to go and ask for the key, which could be off putting.
