If you plan to go to the states in the next two years it is worth getting your US ESTA, as from September 3rd you will be charged £9 each. The ESTA is valid for two years so it is well worth getting them and if you are a family it could save a you quite a bit. At the moment they are free but as I say from September they are chargeable. It can be done online but be careful some websites offer to do this for you and then charge you five pounds, no need to pay just go to the correct site which is https://esta.cbp.dhs.gov I have just completed ours and it will not cost me a penny.
Everyone traveling from the UK needs this to get into the states so you really need to get it.
