Birthday Cakes & Halloween

Halloween was a lot of fun this year, we found the children really looked forward to the party that always happens here, also Paige took part in things this year, other years she has just sat and watched but this time she wanted to join in. Along with Halloween it was also Owen’s birthday weekend so we had to combine the event.

On the Saturday evening, we started the night with a spooky children’s movie, we then followed this with apple bobbing, which went a little pear shaped when the two boys decided to hold their sisters head under water while she was trying to get an apple, Imogen was not amused but it was quite funny, we then played blind mans bluff which also caused lots of laughter. During the Saturday evening the kids consumed popcorn, toffee apples, crisps, sweets and cakes my front room looked wonderful!

Next morning the children were still on a high as it was Owen’s birthday and they knew that meant another family event which this time was to be a Sunday lunch followed by the birthday cake.

John and I had decided to make Owen a special cake this year as he loves Batman almost as much as John does and we could not find a cake for him, plus with his allergies I prefer to make it so I know what he is getting. Well we did and we both were very pleased with it, but it was a huge effort, getting the colours right and just hoping it would turn out of the tin when we baked it. I can say it was worth it, he was over the moon with his cake and now they are all putting in orders for next year, I don’t know what we have started.
