Dreaming of Mexico

Such a longtime since I have wrote in this travel section, I now have a lot of work ahead of me, I had to list the places I have been and decided which destination to share with you first. Mexico it had to be ! This country for me has it all, beaches , white soft sand miles of it, powder blue warm seas, palm trees gently move in warm breezes, exciting history, vibrant towns and cities and people that really want to look after you , also some amazing five star properties that have every facilitiy you can imagine.

We went to Mexico in the March and the weather was amazing a constant mid 80,s every day , we stayed at a Secrets resort it was the Secrets Maroma Riviera Cancun and we booked the Preferred club which gave you lots of little extras. The resort was so wonderful, I can understand people simply going and not moving from it, beautifully clean, stunning views of the Caribbean ocean and well cared for gardens, luxury sun beds and outdoor furniture , people on hand at every moment to bring you drinks or food, you want for nothing. We loved having 24 hour room service and found ourselves ordering a supper at 3.00 am one morning.

The rooms or should I say suite as it is an all suite hotel, are filled with luxury and well thought out, jacuzzi bath in your room and we also had a plunge tub on our balcony, a free mini bar with all the best spirits and soft drinks you could want along with crisps and sweets. In the bathroom you had an abundance of towels , changed every day along with the best selection of toiletries I have ever seen including sun screen. We had a choice of seven restaurants to eat from, lots of bars, coffee bars , night club, tennis courts, gym and huge swimming pools. This is an adult only resort, it is not rowdy , we found it very elegant yet relaxed and it never felt crowded , would we return? yes we will when we can save enough , it is not a cheap option and the flight out was 12 hours , flight back was 10 hours.

We did visit one of the main attractions of the area Chichen Itza with our own local private guide which was amazing, we travelled in her car and had all of her attention while she explained the culture and history it was a fantastic experience . We also took a taxi into a local town which again was a happy fun time. If you get the chance to visit Mexico please do , oh nearly forgot to mention the food was good and enjoyable but not quite five star as we know it.
