Pembrokeshire Weekend

I am now settling down after a hectic exciting weekend away. It was just what we both needed! The combination of a city weekend and then a relaxed beach type weekend worked wonderfully.

Our weekend in Pembrokeshire highlighted everything I had been told about that area. Spectacular beaches, clean blue waters, the sea was warm due to the gulfstream, hidden coves, fantastic walks and a picturesque little village hidden away offering very good food and at reasonable prices.

I think I found because the area is not crowed, you get the ultimate feeling of space and tranquillity. I must admit, I saw it at is best with blue skies and constant sunshine. I also found the Welsh people to be very friendly and warm natured. So many places left a lasting impression so I can only list a couple, but we are planning to go back and discover more hidden secrets.

Carmarthen, a beautiful historic market town; with connections to Merlin, which I have yet to look into.  I bought a wonderful pair of sandals here from a hippy type shop Tonys Emporium which I will certainly  be going back to for more shoes. This place also had brilliant places to eat, I found a champagne and cocktail lounge which unfortunately I was there before opening, but it’s another reason to go back. This little town oozed character and charm and had fib boutiques, plus it was surrounded by stunning countryside.

Lawrenny Quay is so hidden away that we would never have found it if a local had not told us about it. We had a wonderful lunch, sat watching the yachts come and go and then we then drove west to the coast to find beautiful beaches, Broad Haven to mention just one. The next day we had lunch at a truly beautiful little harbour called Solva. We could have been in Greece; the turquoise clear waters were stunning with little boats gently bobbing on the top. We then went onto discovered the smallest city in the UK; St David’s which I felt was stunning. It has a wonderful monastery and lots of quaint little tea shops.

So back to reality, until our next little trip away, it may well be back to Wales!
