The Perfect Elf

This is my entry to the Center Parcs/ TOTS100 competion writting a poem which describes your own idea of what makes a perfect elf.

Christmas is the most magical time of year, all over the world children look out for Santa’s sleigh gliding through the starlit sky’s. It is a time of heightened senses, with smells from the kitchen which reflect the season, cinnamon, orange and mince pies. A time of music and laughter, a time for family and friends.

When thinking what makes the perfect Elf, we decided it has to be his or her magic quality, something inside that understands the magic of Christmas, a very special heart, that would never let Santa down or the girls and boys dreaming of toys. My poem is short but I hope to the point and I hope you enjoy it.

Santa’s Elves Must Be!

Santa’s elves must be happy and bright,

never minding if they have to stay up all night.

Santa’s elves must love reindeer too.

never minding the smell of reindeer poo.

Santa’s elves must be honest and true,

Santa’s eleves never lie, do you?

Santa needs his elves there night or day,

Baking a cake or shaking the hay,

Making toys, packing sacks,

Checking the sleigh for delivery day.

But most of all Santa’s Elves,

must have a heart full of joy,

passing their magic to every toy,

for every girl and little boy.

I loved this challenge it let me really escape and transport myself to Santa’s workshop, Merry Christmas.
