Reading the news over the last 3 days has led me to believe that we have lost our true sense of direction in this country, we are living in the most awful nanny state, were social services are now frightening the life out of parents with young children and the reverse children with elderly parents. Where has the freedom of choice gone, informed educated choice is our god given right, yet we see photos of 80 year old ladies being bundled into police cars and back to nursing homes, taken from there families. Yes there are children out there that need protecting but if we were all better neighbours we would know what was happening to the kids next door, it is to easy to look the other way. I have found that families with elderly relatives that become hard to look after soon come looking for help and yes we should be there for them, to support them tell them what is out there, such as respite care, sometimes people only need to know they can have a break every six weeks, that could make the difference between putting your loved parent into care or you keeping them with you but with the help you need.
The next article I read went on to tell me I would now have to work till I was seventy, well thanks a lot, taxed to the max, to pay the salaries of politicians who I have lost total faith in, how can these people justify there salaries let alone there expense accounts, which of late has become a joke. It is only the poor who will work till they are seventy, the rich and middle class will still be retiring at fifty or oh dear me fifty five. My salary is paid buy the council and I see myself as a public servant, I always consider that the people I care for have paid my wages so I have a duty to look after them, a matter of respect, I really wish that I felt that the government cared for the little people that put them there.
