This is a page for family favourite recipes, many passed ont to me from friends and family, all of them have been well tried.

With budgets in mind, a lot of the recipes are adapted to use cheaper cuts of meat, also most of them are freezer friendly, so we can make large portions and stock them in the freezer.

I am always grateful to people sending me recipes that they love and then to share them on this section for others to try. I will be putting up some vegitarian recipes and all the recipes benefit from organic or home produce, if you can afford them or you grow them yourself.

A Different Mixed Grill

Posted on May 28, 2011Updated on September 19, 2022by susievenahunterCategories:Yummies

Last night I cooked a dish which left me with polenta left over as I cannot stand wasting food I put it into the fridge for today, in Italy polenta is often fried or grilled the next day, so I then had to go through the fridge and find something to put with my grilled polenta and …

Italian Sausage, fennal, and green lentils

I am at the moment going through an Italian phase, it is one of my favorite nations for food, generally I love the rustic feel behind the food using simple pure ingredients but producing wonderful flavours. This dish is a fine example of that, the flavours are deep, intense and very satisfying, using fennel which is …

Susie’s Super Chilli

Posted on November 23, 2010Updated on September 19, 2022by susievenahunterCategories:Yummies

I treat the chili pot a bit like the old fashioned stew pot of years ago, ie, anything goes in. I have found it difficult putting this recipe down on paper as it seems to change everytime I make it, all I can say is I have never had a complaint and people keep asking for the …

Beef Enchiladas In A Red Chilli Sauce

Posted on September 2, 2010Updated on September 19, 2022by susievenahunterCategories:Yummies

This is a time consuming recipe but if you love Mexican food as we do it is well worth the effort, I also found I was able to take some shortcuts which worked really well. I only take shortcuts if as in this case I could not get the correct chillies for the sauce, this …

Lamb & Red Pepper Stew

Probably the best lamb in a pot dish I have ever had, I have made it many times and people just love it and always want more. In the recipe it does not tell you that you can use Lamb neck fillets which is what I use and it is cheaper, but you must then …

This dish to me is the perfect curl up on the sofa with a bottle of wine and good movie supper dish, it is creamy rich yet the asparagus keeps it spring fresh, I find although you have to stand over a risotto, quite a simple dish which you can play around with and make …

Susie’s Asian Fried Rice

Posted on January 21, 2010Updated on September 19, 2022by susievenahunterCategories:Yummies

I find this such an easy yet tasty supper dish, it has a strong connection to Nasi Goreng but as with most recipes of this nature by the time they get to our shores there is very little left which is authentic. One strong tip is to cook your rice a couple of hours before …
