Loving The Summer Holidays

The past two weeks have been fast and furious, but oh so much fun. The children and Joanne have been coming up to the farm every-other day to swim, play tennis, picnic, play hide and seek and go for walks through the fields. Of course the really nice weather has helped. The children have been so happy and content because they have had so much freedom here that is not possible in town and they have appreciated it, they kept saying how nice it is up here, they enjoy the gardens and the fields. Imogen spent time catching crickets and then of course releasing them, Joanne and I played tennis with them, even Paige came onto the court and with help hit a few balls.  We would all sit around and picnic, with the two dogs sharing everything, what a strong bond was between us all,  family unity at its best. It took me back to growing up in the countryside the freedom I had, the independence it made you develop, I did miss out on going to the cinema as we lived too far away but Iwas never bored and it meant as children we used our imaginations a thing which today’s children do not have to do because everything is given to them in a digital world, so it is great to watch my grandchildren being pirates with sticks and then being spy’s and playing hide and seek.

This time has given Jo and I time to sit and chat together a thing we do not get to do that often and it has been wonderful. Joanne has been trying out new recipes and is now becoming a very good cook with an understanding of what flavours go together so she is now putting her own edge on things soon she will be a better cook than me, and she has made her first ever real cake using one of my recipes which turned out fantastic so I am over the moon with that. I am now looking forward to doing some days out with the children over the next couple of weeks, I will keep you all informed what and where, as we will be looking at things from a wheelchair friendly point of view. Stay happy my friends and enjoy the summer while it lasts.
