Last night I went to RAF Boscombe Down for a good friends birthday party, yes it was different having to take a passport to gain access to a secure base but it was a wonderful evening.
John now regrets leaving the RAF and wishes he was young enough to sign up again, this has nothing to do with the fact he could not believe how cheap the bar was in the officers mess!!!!, prices like that makes me wonder if half the Raf have a drinks problem, also the food was amazing plus the mess halls were very comfortable.
It was great catching up with all my old work mates and it was wonderful to see how many people had turned out for this surprise party, Marie is a special lady and she deserved every minute of last night, her family really did her proud, it was lovely to have all her Irish family there and the Irish band it was a fun night. I also hope my dear friend Carole survived spending the night in our company, we gave her a lift and I think she may have regretted it, but we loved having her there, I am afraid I don’t think I could ever have a party like that as I feel I may only have a handful of friends that would want to come but it is something to aim for.
