Whoops Should Have Been So Good

Today Sunday 27th September, I had been looking forward to this day all week, it had been a busy week work wise so I was looking forward to a treat. John had promised we would have a day together something which does not happen very often, I asked if we could go to Ave-bury, as I love it there I get the whole spiritual stones thing.

For once even the weather was being good brilliant blue sky and wonderful wall to wall sunshine, I was like a child on Christmas eve, we drove up through some beautiful countryside and stopped to take in the views and future walking routes at Milk Hill on the Pewsey downs, we then drove to Avebury.

We have always paid for parking in the National trust car park but this time I could not believe they wanted us to buy an all day ticket for £5 when all we wanted was 2hours the only choice you got was after 3pm you could park for £3, we are not talking a lot of money but it is the fact you are given no choice, I refused on principal, as we can go back between November and March and park for all day for £3, I would have happily paid £3 for two hours, on reflection I now wished I had paid the five pounds as I really missed not hugging a huge stone.

We then drove towards Sidbury Hill and found a chocolate box type pub very old English thought we would have lunch their only to find we would have to wait half an hour for opening so we then drove off towards Devizes, John had already told me about a pub he passes on his way to work which he thought would be nice for a lunch stop so we arrived at the bridge Inn which sits beside the Kennet canal, as you see it from the road side it looks nothing special but as you pull into the car park you then see the beautiful garden and the canal. Sitting in the garden watching the barges up and down was lovely as were the Sunday roasts we ordered which came within 5 minutes of being ordered, I had Beef and John had the Lamb both excellent, I was having a really nice time hoping  to go on somewhere to have a walk but it was not to be, John spoilt the rest of my day out by telling me that he felt when we had been at our friend last night for supper not only did I dominate the conversation but that I bored the pants of everyone by talking none stop about my daughter and Paige, we did not argue, I did state that my friend had asked me how my career change was going  I was doing nothing more than telling her about it, he stated that people do not want to know every detail. He was possibly right maybe I had gone on a bit but to tell me when I was having such a nice time was to me just selfish, was it the mystic stones having revenge on me because I was to tight to pay the car park charges, I do feel that we had done our walk around the stones the conversation may have been saved for another day, next time I go to Avebury I will be very choosy who I take with me.!!
